Christine Farniok

Christine Farniok, who is a European Patent
Attorney, also handled intellectual property resulting from
exploratory research at the Research Institute of Molecular
Pathology (I.M.P.) and the Institute of Molecular
Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IMBA).

DI Christine Farniok graduated from the University of Natural>
Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, as a
biochemist and microbiologist. After starting her professional
career at the Food Testing & Research Institute Vienna, she
worked for eight years as an Examiner at the Austrian Patent
Office.

In her subsequent 22 years as Director Patents with
Boehringer Ingelheim Austria (now Boehringer Ingelheim
RCV), Christine Farniok’s expertise accompanied and
supported multiple research projects in various fields of life
sciences, like molecular biology, biological therapeutics,
biological target molecules and assays, as well as
biopharmaceutical process science. She was involved in
developing patent strategies for both medicinal chemistry and
biology projects and built up and managed an extensive
patent portfolio.
